Still, while the information received does not support the post as a credible threat, the additional safety measures that were put in place today will remain in effect throughout the school day. After a multi-agency investigation and in cooperation with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the message has been determined as a hoax and has been circulating across many other school districts in Georgia. Officers have been working overnight and this morning to determine the source of the message. The post was immediately reported to Campus Police and in tandem with other local police agencies they began an investigation. The message caused concern for two other high schools in the district as well. Last evening, we became aware of a social media post making threatening remarks in a message that appeared to be directed at our school. Wednesday morning, in precaution of the alleged threat, SCCPSS increased security presence at three schools Islands High School, Jenkins High School and Johnson High School. The social media alleged threat mentions the schools as “IHS” and JHS.” (WSAV) – The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) says a threat that was circulating on social media has been determined as unfounded and is not a credible threat.
